Question: I’m in the market for a new kit. I play a 24″ bass drum, but am in a dilema about what depth to get. I like the vintage look, lighter weight, and less bulk of a 14″ depth, but don’t want to regret the purchase if it’s significantely weaker, with less volume. My current 24″x16″ is certainly powerful enough, but it took alot of dampening to get it’s overtones under control. Will a 24″x14″ give me the same unmiked volume, without the excessive resonance, or will I be disappointed?

@spursfan112 but it is good shit man. I have an Evans EMAD single ply for 7 YEARS and there were times when i was literally trying to break that drumhead and rape my bass drum just because i despise my 250$ drums .. and it didn’t break – i use axis black longboard double althoug i once try to break the EMAD with a DW9002 and on both pedals i use a plastic beaterhead so….

@Mooning2314 rofl.”i’d never think i’d get excited about wrinkles”

  9. Rogers1977 says:

“They got scientists working at Evans.” I’m fairly confident that Bob invented these heads.

  10. Mooning2314 says:

    mmmm wrinkles *wink wink*

  11. CaseyGreen19 says:

@PercPhreak its actually easier with a coated head because you can push on it and see the wrinkles without even needing the reflections. Just my experience.

bob, i realize that with that pillow thats sold it wont effect the rebound of the kick that much becuase its very light and floppy, but would putting a small pillow against the resonate change the feel of rebound of the kick? a pillow heavier then this speical pad you have in the video. thanks

Did someone realize he forgot two screws, when he screws the head at 0:35?

So at 1:24, our bass drum should sound like a baboon? Lmfao. I love Bob!

    This video is so sexual

  17. nigelregan says:

Bonzo only used felt across his bass heads, no other damping at all, quite confusing how almost every drummer has a different “absolutely must do this” technique. Think I’ll try my shells without any heads on them and see if that works!

  18. LegoDrummer3000 says:

sound like a heart beat baboon baboon baboon lol lol lol

  19. PercPhreak says:

How do you do the wrinkle technique with a coated head?

  20. XO0oooooo0OX says:

    8:43 That’s a nice leg.

  21. TheSunlitEarth says:

The wrinkle technique doesnt work so well on coated heads :(

  22. SuperGilbs says:
